Here are some things that shouldn't be associated together, but often are:

Saddam staying in power and peace.

Capitalism and greed.

Commitment and sex.

Love and sex.

Morality and opposing kinky sex.

Morality and opposing "naughty" words.

Morality and God.

Leftists and caring.

"Disciplining" (read: hurting) children and love.

Spanking and learning.

Time-outs and learning.

School and learning.

USA and police state.

Israel and police state.

Tolerance and moral relativism.

Other Websites and Better Than Mine.

tolerance: deviants are not punished

some people think that that means not criticizing people.

as if they think criticism is punishment.

and that's why they think moral relativism goes with tolerance.

because if there's no truth in morality (moral relativism), then there's no criticism too. you can't say something is false when you can't contrast it against the truth.

some commentators think criticism is punishment and should only be done to the bad guys.

when we are criticized by parents and school we are punished so we can't tell the difference. knowledge of fallibilism doesn't come easy in an authoritarian society.
